The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nadowli-Kaleo, Madam Mary Haruna, has lauded the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, for her visionary leadership and commitment to promoting digital education and girl-child empowerment, following the commissioning of the POGNAA PIIRIMA MAALUUMA (PPM) ICT Centre in Sankana. “Pognaa Piirima Maaluuma” is a distinguished stool name conferred on the Vice President in recognition of her exceptional leadership role and immense contribution to the establishment of the ICT Centre, symbolising her enduring impact on education and development in the district.

Delivering remarks at the commissioning ceremony, the DCE described the event as a historic and inspiring milestone not only for the district but for the entire nation. She noted that the Vice President’s achievement as Ghana’s first female Vice President serves as a beacon of hope and a powerful example of what determination, discipline, and service can achieve, particularly for young girls across the country.

Madam Haruna emphasised that the occasion held special significance for the people of Nadowli-Kaleo, who proudly celebrate the Vice President as their Development Queen Mother. She commended her for her unwavering interest in the development of the district, especially in advancing educational opportunities for children.

The DCE expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the Sankana cluster of schools and the entire district for the establishment of the ICT Centre. She described the facility as a transformative investment that would spearhead a digital skills revolution among students and prepare them for the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.

According to her, the PPM ICT Centre goes beyond a traditional computer laboratory. It comprises a fully equipped ICT lab, an administrative office for efficient management, separate washroom facilities for boys and girls to promote hygiene and dignity, and a sanitary pad bank aimed at improving menstrual health and supporting the continuous education of female students.

Madam Haruna assured stakeholders that the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly is committed to the proper management, operation, and maintenance of the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability and impact.

She further reaffirmed the district’s unwavering support for the Vice President, stressing that although their voices may not always be the loudest, their loyalty, unity, and commitment to national development remain resolute.

In a related development, the DCE used the occasion to express heartfelt appreciation to the Vice President, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, the Upper West Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo, and all individuals and organisations who contributed in diverse ways to the successful celebration of the Kalibi Festival in Sankana. She acknowledged their collective efforts in preserving cultural heritage and fostering unity and development within the district.

The ceremony concluded with an official commissioning of the facility by the Vice President, marking a significant step toward enhancing digital education and improving the welfare of students in the Nadowli-Kaleo District.

Madam Haruna ended her address with a call for continued collaboration in advancing education and community development, invoking blessings for the nation with the words: “God bless our homeland Ghana.”
