The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mary Haruna, has paid glowing tribute to the Queen Mothers of the Upper West Region for their instrumental role in her journey to leadership, describing their support as a driving force behind her successful appointment and confirmation.

Addressing a gathering of Queen Mothers, the DCE expressed profound gratitude for their unwavering encouragement and belief in her capabilities. She noted that their legacy of strength, wisdom, and compassion continues to inspire her commitment to public service and community development.

“Your unwavering support has propelled me to this podium, and I am deeply humbled,” she stated. “Your legacy inspires me to serve our community with passion and purpose.”

Mary Haruna emphasised her administration’s dedication to inclusive development, pledging to create opportunities that benefit every segment of society, particularly women, children, and families. She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the vision of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, which seeks to build a nation where equal opportunities are accessible to all and every voice is heard.

Highlighting the critical role of traditional leadership, the DCE described Queen Mothers as the “heartbeat” of communities, whose influence remains vital in shaping societal values and driving grassroots development. She called for continued collaboration between her office and traditional authorities to accelerate progress across the region.

As part of her message, the DCE advised the Queen Mothers to actively support women within their communities and encourage them to take up leadership positions. She stressed that empowering more women to lead would not only strengthen governance at the grassroots level but also foster a culture of mutual support among women, enabling them to uplift one another and contribute meaningfully to development.

In a passionate appeal, she urged the Queen Mothers to join hands with her administration to ignite a new wave of empowerment and transformation in the Upper West Region. “Together, we will build a brighter future, and I will be honoured to walk alongside you every step of the way,” she affirmed.

Mary Haruna further extended special appreciation to the Upper West Regional Queen Mothers who stood firmly by her throughout the period of her appointment and confirmation, acknowledging their loyalty and steadfast support during the process.

The address concluded with a renewed call for unity, partnership, and collective action to achieve sustainable development and improved livelihoods for the people of the Upper West Region.
