COLLECT: “ALMIGHTY EVER-LIVING GOD, WHOSE WILL IS TO RESTORE ALL THINGS IN YOUR BELOVED SON, THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE, GRANT, WE PRAY, THAT THE WHOLE CREATION, SET FREE FROM SLAVERY, MAY RENDER YOUR MAJESTY SERVICE AND CEASELESSLY PROCLAIM YOUR PRAISE. THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, YOUR SON, WHO LIVES AND REIGNS WITH YOU IN THE UNITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, GOD, FOR EVER AND EVER. AMEN”.

There is a wise saying among the Dagaaba that: “Ka mane yele ka wullo/guoran ba kyebe o e wogi le” (lit. “The river says it is because there is no one to teach or alert or stop it, that is why it is so long, no limit”).
Today is the last day of our liturgical year and therefore, we have some hours ahead of us to conclude the year. It will finally come to an end tonight at exactly 11:59 pm at the 59th second. During these last few days, scriptures have been urging and alerting us to be vigilant, watchful, and stay awake to prepare for the Day of the Lord which can come to any one of us without warning.
Scriptures tell us that cosmic upheavals and other events will take place to show that the end times are approaching, though they are not imminent, so we cannot conclude that the end times have actually arrived and prepare ourselves for the Lord’s coming. Our balanced spiritual leaders/, men of God, have also been alerting us, on several occasions, to always prepare ourselves and be ready for our last days on earth.
Therefore, we must always be vigilant and watchful. We need to watch and be spiritually fit on the Day of the Lord in our lives. This means, working faithfully at the tasks God has given to each one of us. Each of us is cautioned to faithfully do what is expected of us.
We should not let our minds and spirits be dulled by careless living, laziness, drinking, or ‘foolishly’ pursuing pleasure and carnal desires. We should be careful not to allow the cares of this world/life to weigh any of us down. We should be ready and prepared to move at the Lord’s command.
Am I prepared and ready within the hours that are left for the liturgical year to end? Are you prepared and ready my dear brother, my dear sister in Christ? Once again, let each of us be watchful in prayer to endure the appearing of the Son of Man, whose Kingdom is eternal and worthy of all praise. May you complete this year successfully tonight and stay blessed by the Lord.
WE MEDITATE TODAY, SATURDAY, ON THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES: ‘THE ANNUNCIATION, THE VISITATION, THE BIRTH OF JESUS, THE PRESENTATION IN THE TEMPLE AND THE FINDING OF THE CHILD JESUS IN THE TEMPLE’. (LET US PRAY FOR HUMILITY, LOVE OF NEIGHBOUR, POVERTY IN SPIRIT, OBEDIENCE AND JOY IN FINDING JESUS) “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us, sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen”.
PRAYER: “HAVING RECEIVED THE FOOD OF IMMORTALITY, WE ASK, O LORD, THAT, GLORYING IN OBEDIENCE TO THE COMMANDS OF CHRIST, THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE, WE MAY LIVE WITH HIM ETERNALLY IN HIS HEAVENLY KINGDOM. WHO LIVES AND REIGNS FOR EVER AND EVER. AMEN”.
