ABANDONED ACCIDENTED TRUCK IN KALEO POSES SAFETY RISK
A long truck with registration number GM 519-12, which was involved in an accident in Kaleo Township, has remained at the accident scene for approximately three to four weeks without being removed.
The truck's current position poses a danger to both road users and residents. Reports indicate that the driver veered off the road and was heading into a ditch. Fortunately, the vehicle came to a stop just before reaching a compound house and several stores situated along the roadside. The consequences could have been far more devastating had the truck continued its course.
When The Trial News visited the scene, residents living near the accident site expressed deep concern over the continued presence of the truck. According to them, the vehicle remains dangerously tilted to one side, raising fears that it could topple over at any time and crash into the nearby stores or the compound house that it narrowly missed during the accident. Residents say they live in constant fear for their safety and the safety of their property.
Many of the residents also expressed disappointment over what they described as the lack of action by the relevant authorities. They noted that officials and security personnel frequently use the road, yet no visible effort has been made to remove the truck since the accident occurred several weeks ago.
The Trial News wishes to draw the urgent attention of the Ghana Police Service, particularly the Nadowli-Kaleo District Police Command, as well as all relevant authorities, to take the necessary steps to have the vehicle towed from its present location before it becomes the cause of another accident or disaster.
Public safety requires proactive action. It is always better to prevent a tragedy than to respond after lives and property have been lost.
We respectfully call on the appropriate authorities to act swiftly in the interest of the safety and well-being of the people of Kaleo and other road users.
