The Member of Parliament for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency has proven that genuine leadership knows no boundaries, not even political opposition. Having achieved remarkable progress during his previous term when his party was in opposition, the MP is now poised to deliver even more development as his party returns to power.

During his ongoing media tour and thank-you visit across the constituency, the MP highlighted major achievements in education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and water and community development. The data, released by his office and aired on several radio stations in the Upper West Region, paint a picture of a results-oriented leader committed to improving lives.

In the area of education, over GHS 170,000 has been spent on scholarships in 2025 alone, benefiting more than 70 students across various levels of education. This initiative aims not only to support the needy but also to build human resource capacity and ensure a sustainable future for the youth. So far, 15 GETFund scholarships have been secured, with more in the pipeline to support brilliant but financially challenged students in the constituency.

The MP’s commitment to infrastructural growth has also been remarkable. He successfully made a case for of key bridges at Bagonluu, Kuuri, Kpagnyanga, Nyimbale, and Baadabuo — vital links that will improve commuting and local commerce. Through his intervention whilst in opposition, survey works have been completed for all sites, contracts have been awarded for Kuuri and Kpagnyanga bridges, and the Kuuri bridge has already been completed, with the contractor set to move to Kpagnyanga soon. Now that his party is back in power, he has expressed optimism that even more development will come to Nadowli-Kaleo.

The MP has also remained committed to grassroots progress. He supported the Bayaaro community in their self-help school project and assured them of a permanent school block soon. He also provided furniture support to several schools, including those in Nator Longborizu. This follows a similar distribution of furniture across basic and Senior High Schools in 2022.

On electricity coverage, Hon. Sumah announced that he recently commissioned a survey of the whole constituency in order to take the necessary steps to ensure the gradual connection of all communities to the National Grid. The MP also gave assurance that the Drip Project is expected to commence soon to reshape and improve roads across the district.

Recognising the central role of the youth in national development, the MP announced plans to relaunch Phase Two of the Youth Apprenticeship Programme, following the success of the first phase in 2021, which trained over 140 young people in various trades and skills. This next phase aims to expand opportunities and empower the youth for self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Access to clean and safe water remains one of the MP’s biggest priorities. His intervention last year, supported by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, significantly reduced the district’s water challenges. He reaffirmed his commitment to completely bridging the gap in water access, emphasising his goal to leave behind a lasting legacy of clean and reliable water for all communities in Nadowli-Kaleo.

In view of his outstanding work output and sterling performance in the December 2024 polls, many constituents have expressed disappointment that their MP has not yet been appointed to any ministerial or key position in the new government. They believe his track record — built even in opposition — makes him one of the most deserving individuals for such an appointment. They have therefore appealed to His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, to consider appointing their MP to a key position in his administration, describing him as a selfless, hardworking, and visionary leader who has delivered without resources or position.

The MP, for his part, expressed hope that with the government now in power and with the continued support of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, he can bring even greater development to his people. The story of the Nadowli-Kaleo MP is one of resilience, humility, and unwavering service. His performance while in opposition was nothing short of exceptional — a clear sign that with his party now in power, the best is yet to come. For the people of Nadowli-Kaleo, he remains a beacon of hope and a reminder that true leadership is about service, not status.

The people of Nadowli-Kaleo are watching!
