Mohammed Salah's issue at Liverpool is like that breadwinner in the family who no longer brings food from his hustles and when the old woman advised that, he sits at home and allow others to try and see whether things can improve, then he said no way... 'You can't forget who I am'.
No one wants to forget who you are- Mr Salah.
But bring us what you are known for and no one in his/her right senses would want you to be on the bench.
I think he is not the only person the manager have benched this season: Isak, Wirtz, McAllister, Gakpo, Ekitike, Konate, Roberson all faced the agony of sitting on the bench this season.
The manager is trying all these permutations just to figure out what works for the club.
What we are seeing, is an over reaction by Salah. He is putting himself ahead of the club by going to the media and no one is bigger than the club.
The club is in crises at the moment, it's not about which player should or should not be on the bench that matters. What matters now is results.
So if the coach thinks benching all senior players can bring results so be it. When he makes those decisions and still there's no better results, he's going to be fired.
Also, Mr. Salah remember you are 33, very close to the average retirement age of footballers, we are not expecting a performance above what you have given us over the years but give us something that can take the club far.
They have spent a lot of money on players to come and help, and when things aren't going well, anyone in the team can be sacrificed for new guys to come in.
As a senior player Salah should be more concern about the team bouncing back than him not playing and should be happy if the team keep winning without him.
Below is what Thierry Henry said and strongly agreed with him.
Thierry Henry on Mohamed Salah's comments: "I had problems with Wenger, with Guardiola… Have you ever heard me talk about it publicly? NEVER. I protected the club."
"When you play for a club, you must protect it at all costs. No matter what’s happening internally, you protect the club — your teammates, the manager, the staff."
"You can be angry, frustrated, disagree… but you don’t air dirty laundry in public, especially when the club is going through difficult moments."
"Instead, you wait, you sort things out internally, and then, if you want to leave or speak your mind, you do it at the right time."
"I understand the ego and Mo’s frustration... He scores 38 goals and ends up on the bench, but there comes a point where you must put the team before yourself.”
