An intelligence-led operation by the Bono Regional Police Intelligence Directorate has resulted in the arrest of 25-year-old Evans Ameyaw at Buoko near Chiraa in the Wenchi Municipality for possessing stolen items and narcotic drugs.

The operation, carried out on October 23, 2025, followed credible intelligence on a criminal network involved in the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles in the area.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to working with accomplices to carry out the crimes. A search conducted in his residence uncovered four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

In a statement, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, confirmed that all the exhibits have been secured as evidence. He added that the police are intensifying efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate.

Evans Ameyaw is currently in police custody, assisting investigators in tracing the rightful owners of the stolen vehicles. Police say preparations are underway to prosecute the suspect once investigations are completed.
