Thers was a different twist in the clebration of the 69th independence day in the Daffiama, Bussie, Issa District. The District under the leadership of Hon James Wor, decided to celebrate the day in an unprecedentedly unique fashion as he led school children, the youth in all communities, institutions and organized groups to embark on a clean up exercise across the District. The Emvironmental health department dispatched its officer to organize, mobilize and supervise the exercise.

The District Chief Executive who was seen taking part in the exercise, explained that this year's move is in compliance with directive from the presidency that MMDCES should scale down the celebration by chosing some selected activities.

He ephansised that his commitment to sanitation management is what informs the choice of the District to undertake the exercise. As students partake in such an important community exercise, they do not only learn about envrionmental cleanliness and public hygiene but also develop the sense of patriotism and communal spirit.

Since his appointment as the District Chief Executive, he has given serious and special attention to sanitation management, providing the needed support and leadership to the Environmental Health Unit of the Assembly to ensure and sustain a clean District.

You would recall that few days ago, the Assembly donated high quality Honda motorbikes to Environmental and Sanitation Officers to enhance their work.

The president of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has made a bold commitment to sanitation management and has directed all MMDCES to take sanitation management seriously. All MMDCES in the Upper West Region therefore engage in the relaunched monthly national sanitation day exercise. To the Hon James Wor, however, he must do something extra by enhancing the cleanliness of his District.

Fortunately, he has the support and good will of his people making his efforts in sanitation managemnet standout.

To him, this year's independence celebration is the most successful and impactful. At the District Capital, both students and community folks happily participated in the clean up exercise with a memorable euphoria.
