Do we blame The Minister of State for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, JoyNews as a media house, Consumers with diverse backgrounds of political affiliations, or MultiChoice DStv Ghana as the service provide? There should have been no debacle between the minister for communication and JoyNews from the beginning; instead, it should have been between the minister and DStv MultiChoice, while we, as patriotic Ghanaians, rally our support behind the minister who is leading on our behalf. To me, DStv has been severely shortchanged on face value, and most people are unaware that the minister easily won his fight, exceeding consumer expectations.

Wait a minute! Did I say shortchanged? Let's quickly pull the brakes to avoid being gammoned with the purported soapy package reduction in bouquet pricing.

Mind you, DStv will never be shortchanged to experience a stint in their income flow. That explains why they smartly term it promotional for a period of 3 months subject to review, and that would have supposedly made the success chalked up by the minister fall flat. This is what consumers and interested Ghanaian media should be mooting about for the way forward and not be grandstanding with frivolities.

For the interim, the minister, who stated his position from the start, has valiantly fought to significantly reduce prices, as well as to open up more channels. Kudos! But what's troubling is why have personal parochial interests sufficed to make it appear as if the minister failed to achieve his goal? He might have gotten himself entangled by his own words from the start to date but take it discretionary as I sincerely acknowledge. Well, opinions are like noses and must be respected.

Instead of fighting the common enemy, it's now an in-house one of a kind. Absolutely needless confrontations. We can agree to disagree; if not, what else could it be but comatose English comprehension? The minister may have lost or won the struggle, but discuss DStv trying to outsmart the minister and still wanting to continue to subdue consumers in Ghana instead, because DStv as a commercial entity won't lose a dime in any arrangement arrived at.
