It was heart wrecking to wake up on 13th August, 2021 to realize the Vilenko river on the Kandomwine road was completely washed off following an overnight downpour. The Kandomwine road project was initiated and constructed by the then MP, now Rt. HON. Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. His main motive was to enable easy mobility of emergency cases from Daffiama/Bussie/Issa district to the Nadowli district hospital without stressing through traffic in the district capital since they still have no functional district hospital.

This disaster caused the deaths of innocent souls and several injuries due to several accidents. The community took several steps using communal labour to fix the said washed-off portion, but to no avail. The Kandomwine community initiated a community project to construct an additional culvert to avert the situation, and it was fully funded by the Honourable MP in November 2024.

The MP further supported the district assembly through DRIP with over *GHC90,0000.00* to fix the Kandomwine road, including several other roads in the Nadowli/Kaleo district, and today, I can confidently confirm the road is motorable pending the next rainy season for possible maintenance works.

I therefore wish to use this advantageous opportunity to thank the Hon. Member of Parliament on behalf of the Chief, Tendaana and the entire people of Kandomwine for the consistency and finally finding a lasting solution to our predicament.

As for Hon. Mary Haruna-DCE, the least talk about her level of commitment the better. She has been closely monitoring and visiting the site several times to ensure the right thing is done. She has indeed brought her office down to the people of the Goriyiri electoral area. May you be strengthened to replicate the same to other parts of the district.

The DRIP coordinator is one of the best appointed by his excellency John Dramani Mahama. His level of community relation is top notch and we so much appreciate. More room for improvement.

We are therefore calling on the same stakeholders, especially the Hon. member of parliament, to consider a bitumen on the Kandomwine road since it is the easiest route to the district hospital in our sister district, DBI. This will go a long way to facilitate smooth healthcare delivery and also complete the vision behind the road by the Rt. Hon. Speaker in 2012. This will be a big legacy by the speaker and the Hon. MP✌️

Long live the Kandomwine community

Long live the Goriyiri electoral area

Long live the Nadowli/Kaleo district.

...end...
