The continuation of our short story is here

…The old man hesitated, unsure whether to explain his spiritual quest to a weird child who, a moment ago, was attempting to do the impossible right before him. But the boy’s curious eyes urged him to speak. I’smallng to understand the wonders of God”, the old man finally admitted. “How did He create the world, the trees like this baobab, the animals, and everything else. I want to know how He does it all” The boy’s face lit up with a knowing expression. He chuckled softly and said, Grandpa, what you are doing isn’t so different from what I’m trying to do” Pointing to the giant baobab tree, he continued, “Your mind is like my small hands, and God’s works are like this baobab tree-vast, deep-rooted and unmovable. Just as I can’t push down this tree with my little hands, you can’t fit the mysteries of God into your little mind”

The old man was struck silent by the boy’s words. The lad went on, his voice now carrying an air of profound wisdom. “God’s ways are beyond our understanding, Grandpa. Stop exhausting yourself trying to comprehend it all. Have faith, trust in His wonders, and accept that some things will always remain mysteries as they have been before we came to this world and will be after we are gone” Before the old man could respond, the boy had vanished into thin air leaving him standing alone in the deep forest. The old man couldn’t believe what had just happened before him. And he was shivering with fear.

Terrified yet enlightened, the old man left the forest faster than he came. He went home, called his family together, and told them what transpired in the forest that day. Then, he told them that the wisdom of the forest encounter made him understand that God’s wonders were far greater than what any human being could understand or explain. Like the baobab tree’s deep roots, His ways were unfathomable and beyond human comprehension. From then on, he stopped questioning the works of God and instead, embraced them with faith and humility. He encouraged his family never to strive to explain or understand God’s mystery, but just to be thrust into God’s greatness and have faith in His power, mercy, and wisdom.

Moral Lesson:

It is when you create something that you can explain how it was created and why. God created us and all the universe, therefore, it is highly impossible for us, who God has created to understand the numerous mysteries of the universe. Our minds are too little to think about the wonders of the world. Just believe, have faith, and allow God’s blessing, protection, and mercy to favour you in life.
