Onsy Kwame Nkrumah Jnr, son of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and former First Vice Chair of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has congratulated New York Mayor-Elect Zohran Kwame Mamdani on what he described as a “historic and inspiring victory” in one of the toughest political contests in recent times.

In a message released shortly after the announcement of Mamdani’s victory, Onsy Nkrumah commended the Mayor-Elect for his resilience, courage, and commitment to progressive ideals, describing him as a symbol of hope for all who believe in justice, equality, and people-centred governance.

“This is not just a victory for Zohran Kwame Mamdani and the people of New York,” Onsy Nkrumah stated. “It is a victory for all progressives around the world who still believe in fairness, social justice, and the power of people-driven change. His success inspires us to continue the struggle for a better and more equitable world.”

Onsy further praised the people of New York for what he called “a bold and defiant mandate for transformation,” noting that their choice reflects a collective desire for fairness, inclusivity, and visionary leadership.

He expressed confidence that Mayor-Elect Mamdani will steer New York toward a new era of social progress and opportunity, adding that his story resonates deeply with those fighting for justice and equality across the globe.

Onsy concluded his message with the rallying words of his late father, Dr Kwame Nkrumah: “Forward Ever, Backwards Never.”
