In Partnership with Madonna Empowerment Foundation

Tamale, 17th October 2025, at the just-ended 2nd Northern Business Merits Awards, organised by The Business Executive, Phidonna Catering Services, in partnership with the Madonna Empowerment Foundation (MEF), proudly received the prestigious honour as “The Leading Brand in Catering and Culinary Training.”

This remarkable recognition stands as a testament to the brand’s consistent excellence, resilience, and impact in transforming lives through practical skill development, culinary education, and community empowerment across Northern Ghana.

A Legacy of Passion, Purpose, and Perseverance. From humble beginnings, Phidonna Catering Services has grown into one of Northern Ghana’s most respected names in catering, bakery, and culinary arts. Founded and led by Madonna Bowan Aratuo (Chef Donna), the brand is guided by its signature values: passion, and excellence. Values that reflect not just in the food it serves but in the lives it touches.

The award recognises years of tireless dedication, sacrifice, and innovation in vocational training and food service. More importantly, it honours the vision of a woman who turned her struggles into strength and her compassion into a calling, empowering single mothers, unemployed youth, and children through skill and mentorship.

“This award is not just ours. It belongs to every woman, youth, and child who has walked through our doors seeking a chance to rise. It reminds us that passion, faith, and perseverance always yield fruit.”

Madonna (Chef Donna), said after receiving the prestigious award.

Building Skills, Changing Lives. Under the Phidonna brand, practical training has become a life-changing opportunity for many who once had no access to formal education or employment. The Catering & Culinary Institute, established as part of Phidonna’s social impact drive, offers comprehensive hands-on training in cooking, baking, pastry, and food presentation, equipping students with the skills and confidence to start their own businesses or secure employment.

Through its strong collaboration with the Madonna Empowerment Foundation, these programs extend far beyond culinary arts. The Foundation’s empowerment and outreach initiatives ensure that no one is left behind, especially single mothers, school girls, and the marginalised youth.

Service to humanity through partnership. Phidonna’s partnership with the Madonna Empowerment Foundation continues to be a shining example of how business and social impact can work hand in hand. Together, they have implemented several community-based projects, including: The Young Chefs Program: Nurturing the next generation of culinary innovators and hospitality leaders. Reusable sanitary pads production and Pad Bank Projects: Supporting girls’ education and menstrual hygiene in schools.

Love to Read Project: Encouraging reading, literacy, and self-expression among rural children. Recycling and Reuse Initiatives: Promoting creativity and sustainability by transforming used materials into useful products.

These initiatives have brought smiles, hope, and tangible changes to countless lives, reflecting Phidonna’s belief that true excellence goes beyond business; it is service to mankind.

Endurance, Faith, and the Human Story Behind the Brand. Behind every achievement lies a story of endurance. For Chef Donna, the journey has been marked by both triumph and trial, from personal health challenges to financial setbacks. Yet through it all, her vision remained steadfast: to empower others, especially women and youth, to stand on their own feet.

Her story mirrors the struggles of those she seeks to help, single mothers fighting for dignity, young people striving for opportunity, and children yearning for guidance. Through Phidonna Catering Services and the Madonna Empowerment Foundation, she has turned pain into purpose and challenges into change.

“Service to mankind is the rent we pay for our space on earth. Through every challenge, we choose to keep paying that rent, with love, skill, and commitment,” said Chef Donna

A Vision for the Future. As Phidonna Catering Services and its partner, the Madonna Empowerment Foundation, celebrate this milestone, they remain focused on expanding their impact across Northern Ghana and beyond. Plans are underway to establish additional training centres, pad banks, and youth development programmes aimed at empowering thousands more.

The team continues to call upon donors, volunteers, and corporate partners to join in building a more empowered, self-reliant society through skills, education, and compassion.

A Celebration of Excellence and Impact. The recognition at the 2nd Northern Business Merits Awards by The Business Executive is not only a professional milestone but also a heartfelt acknowledgement of years of endurance, community service, and excellence.

Through its innovative blend of culinary mastery and humanitarian outreach, Phidonna Catering Services, with Madonna Empowerment Foundation as its partner brand, continues to light the path of empowerment, proving that success is sweetest when shared.
